No Obligation Consultation
I believe that every woman deserves to love her experience of childbirth, but not every doula is right for every woman. This is your chance to discover if I am the right doula for you! During this meeting you may have many questions, and I am enthusiastic about giving you all the information you need to choose the right doula for you.
Prenatal Meetings
If you decide you'd like me to be your doula, we will schedule two or three prenatal meetings depending on your preference. At those meetings we will become more acquainted with each other as we discuss your birth preferences. I can also help you create a birth plan if you wish to have one. Of course, partners are welcome at all prenatal meetings!
Phone and Email Support
Between visits, if you feel you need to talk with me for any reason you are welcome to contact me via phone or email.
Labor and Birth Support
Simply put, I will be there from the time you feel you need me until after the baby is born. My job is to meet your needs during labor and birth and and help them go as smoothly as possible. I do this by helping you with relaxation techniques, recommending position changes, acting as a 'gatekeeper' with visitors, and helping you acquire additional information about interventions if they become necessary. My role varies according to your needs and the level of involvement of your partner.
Initial Postpartum
After the birth of your baby, I will stay with you for about two hours to help with breastfeeding, take photos, or help you get comfortable. I keep myself available to you but often go in and out of your room to give your family ample 'alone' time.
Postpartum Visit
I will visit you once the dust settles, usually one to two weeks after the birth. This is a great opportunity for us to discuss the birth, troubleshoot breastfeeding or baby care issues, or just hang out and admire your baby. I'm also available by phone or email during this time if you need any assistance.
My Fees
For the services outlined above, my fee is $400. A non-refundable $175 deposit is required to put your birth on my calendar. I believe every woman who wants a doula should have one, so if my fee is difficult for your budget, please let me know at our consultation and we can discuss ways to accomodate your needs.
